The Feelings Traffic Light Method
For Children Ages 4-8+

Go from Meltdowns to Co-regulation and Teamwork in Just 10 Days with ‘Feely’.

Life can be a series of frustrating mornings.

Picture us:

I’m anxiously checking my watch while my son refuses to get dressed.

Both of us are escalating from “yellow to red” in our stress and frustration.

Before: Morning Meltdowns!

But then, we discovered the Feelings Traffic Lights Method.

In just a few days, we learned to recognize our states and communicate our triggers.

We started saying things like “I’m feeling a bit yellow” to flag rising tensions.

And communicating our emotional states to prevent clashes.

We even began helping each other notice our rising feelings, “dad are you feeling yellow?”.

Yes, co-regulation can work both ways! ????

This led to increased empathy, communication, and smoother mornings.

Because we knew each others triggers and understood how each one felt.

After: Co-regulation and Teamwork!

After facing these daily emotional struggles, I created the Feelings Traffic Light method together with my three-year-old son.

This simple, fun method didn’t just smooth over our mornings—it deepened our emotional understanding and connection.

It helped us identify emotional triggers, creating a shared language for discussing feelings and dramatically reducing meltdowns.

Even now, as my son is 10, we continue to benefit from the clarity and empathy the ‘Feely’ Method brings to our lives.

Are you struggling to help your child navigate their emotions?

Discover the fun method that brought peace to my family when my son was only three years old.

Meet Chris:

The Dad Behind the Method

Hi there, my journey into children’s wellbeing began during our adoption process for a child with special needs.

Diving deep into psychology and neuroscience, I embraced positive psychology and mindfulness to prepare myself to be the best parent possible.

Surprisingly, just as we were set to adopt, my wife and I discovered we were expecting!

Although this unexpected joy prevented us from adopting, it reinforced my belief in the universal benefits of what I’d learned.

From when my son was six months old, I applied these practices, starting with gratitude exercises and mindful breathing, which he quickly adopted.

As I noticed the available materials were not child-engaging or parent-friendly, I adapted and developed games and interventions that were both fun and effective.

This led me to start a blog, share my methods, and eventually write Amazon best-selling books on children’s psychology, aiding parents, educators, and psychologists worldwide.

I’m thrilled to introduce you to Feely, the culmination of my experience and passion.

This fun, effective method is designed to help children understand their emotions and foster a sense of empathy and resilience.

I hope Feely becomes a valuable tool in your family’s (or classrooms) journey to emotional wellness.

With Gratitude,

Chris Bergstrom
